Áureo y Calicó sale 347, lot 369

This specimen was lot 369 in Áureo y Calicó sale 347 (Barcelona, March 2020), where it sold for €320 (about US$422 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"1813. Fernando VII. Madrid. IJ. 2 reales. Busto desnudo. Bella. Brillo original. Ex Colección Manuela Etcheverría. Escasa y más así. EBC. (kingdom of Spain, Ferdinand VII, two reales of 1813, Madrid mint, bare bust. Handsome, original luster, scarce thus, extremely fine.)"

This type was struck in Madrid 1814-33, in Seville 1815-33 and in Cadiz 1810-12. As Spanish minors were lower in fineness than contemporary Latin American issues, they were discounted in international trade.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 6.77 g, 0.812 fine silver, .176 troy oz ASW, this specimen 5,96 g.

Catalog reference: Cayón-15465, KM 460.2, AC. 824.
