The first specimen shown was lot 96 in Aureo y Calico sale 233 (Barcelona, April 2011), where it sold for 140 euros (about US$233 including buyer's fee). The catalog description[1] noted, <blockquote>"''1850. Segovia. 1 décima de real. Precioso color. S/C-.'' (One tenth real of 1850, Segovia mint. Beautiful color, about uncirculated.)"</blockquote> This type was struck in Segovia 1850-53. In 1850, the twenty reales was reduced to 26.91 grams and the copper maravedis dropped in favor of [[Spain 1853-Seg 1/20 real|1/20]], 1/10 and 1/5 reales. Unfortunately, the government, financially prostrate as usual, was unable to remint the old coins, which continued to circulate as before. The coinage would be reformed a second time in 1866.
