Canada SB817-20259r.jpg

This specimen was lot 20259 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $840. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. 5 Cents, 1903. PCGS MS-66. An exceptional Gem of the date that displays fully realized details over the design and lovely flares of meandering blue, copper-gold and rose atop nearly pristine surfaces. Housed in an older green label PCGS holder." This type was struck 1902-10 for Edward VII. This date is scarce but is not the key. The silver five cents was converted to nickel in 1922.

Recorded mintage: 1,000,000.

Specification: 1.15 g, 0.925 fine silver, 15.5 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 13.
