Stack's Bowers 2023 ANA sale, lot 55599

This specimen was lot 55599 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Hannover. 24 Mariengroschen, 1787-C. Zellerfeld Mint. Georg III (George III of Great Britain). Extremely Fine. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection. Includes ticket from Karl Stephens." This "wild man" gulden was struck 1785-89 and is common. Another gulden (KM 341) with a value reverse was also struck in 1787.
