Künker sale 335, lot 4286

This specimen was lot 4286 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabruck, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €120 (about US$157 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SACHSEN, SACHSEN, KURFÜRSTENTUM. Johann Georg III. 1680-1691. Pfennig 1684, Dresden. Vorzüglich. (Germany, electorate of Saxony, John George III, 1680-91, pfennig of 1684, Dresden mint. Extremely fine.)"

This pfennig, the smallest Saxon denomination, was struck 1681-91 and has a low catalog value. It is doubtless rare in nice condition.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver or billon, this specimen 0.32 g.

Catalog reference: KM 573, Clauß/Kahnt 619.
