Sincona sale 9, lot 4080

This specimen was lot 4080 in Sincona sale 9 (Zurich, October 2012), where it sold for 450 CHF (about US$569 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Sachsen-Weimar und Eisenach. Grossherzogtum Münzstätte Berlin Wilhelm Ernst, 1901-1918. 5 Mark 1903. Zur Hochzeit mit Caroline von Reuss. Leichte Flecken. Polierte Platte. FDC. (Grand duchy of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, William Ernest, 1901-18, five mark of 1904, Berlin mint, on his marriage to Caroline of Reuss. Proof.)"

This type was saved in sufficient numbers as to be scarce, not rare. A silver two mark accompanied this issue.
