This specimen was lot 24773 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $5,140.63. The catalog description[1] noted, "Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. Carl Alexander gold Proof 20 Mark 1892-A, Proof 63 Cameo NGC, a gorgeous example of this rarity with frosted details and deeply mirrored fields, a coin with exceptional eye appeal." This and a twenty mark of 1901 are the only gold issues of this tiny state during the Wilhelmine empire.
Recorded mintage: 5,000 plus a few proofs.
Specification: 7.96 g, 0.900 fine gold, .230 troy oz AGW.
