Steve Album sale 51, lot 982

This specimen was lot 982 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $390. The catalog description[1] noted, "SAXE-WEIMAR-EISENACH: Karl Alexander, 1853-1901, AR thaler, 1870, lovely semi prooflike strike with hairlines in the fields, Unc, ex Joe Sedillot Collection." This type was issued 1858, 1866 and 1870 and is the last thaler from this locale.

Recorded mintage: 45,000.

Specifications: 18.50 g, 0.750 fine silver, 34 mm diameter.
