This specimen was lot 790 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $510. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANKFURT AM MAIN: Free City, AR gulden, 1846, a lovely example! PCGS graded MS66. Finest graded at PCGS." This denomination, slightly larger than a French two francs, was struck in Frankfurt 1838-63. This date is common for the type, which was issued 1842-55. It was accompanied by a half gulden and double gulden (Dav-642). Frankfurt was annexed to Prussia in 1866 and her coinage ended.
