Zurich 1719 ducat Fr-489
This specimen was lot 31585 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), where it sold for $1,292.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Zurich. City gold Ducat 1719 MS63 NGC. Struck to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Zwingli's first preaching in Zürich, featuring the leader of the Reformation in Switzerland wearing a minister's cap. Boldly defined and with semi-reflective fields that shimmer upon rotation. Very appealing in this Choice level of Mint State, and rarely offered as such. From the Redwood Collection, Part II." This type was struck some years after the actual bicentennial and is dismissed as a medal by the SCWC, which consigns it to the dungeon of coins, Unusual World Coins. A double ducat (Fr-488a) also exists.
