Sincona sale 70, lot 3660

This specimen was lot 3660 in Sincona sale 70 (Zürich, May 2021), where it sold for 11,000 CHF (about US$14,482 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SWITZERLAND | Zurich | Stadt und Kanton. Goldgulden o. J. (um 1620), Zürich. Karl der Grosse auf Thron sitzend mit Reichsapfel und Schwert. Rv. S . P . Q . (lateinisch für Senatus Populusque; zu Deutsch: Der Senat und das Volk) THVRICEN(SIS). Sehr selten. NGC MS65+. Prachtvolle Erhaltung. (Switzerland, canton of Zurich, undated goldgulden from around 1620, Zürich mint. Obverse: Charlemagne enthroned with orb and sword; reverse: legend. Very rare, gem uncirculated, Magnificent condition.)"

This rare ducat was accompanied by a double ducat (Fr-441).
