Zug 1692 1/2 ducat Fr-420
This specimen was lot 5596 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 16,000 CHF (about US$24,115 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ. Zug. Stadt und Kanton. Halbdukat 1692, Zug. Vier Zeilen Schrift inkl. Wert- und Jahreszahl, eingefasst von einem Lorbeerkranz. Rv. Ovales Zugerwappen in Kartusche. Von grosser Seltenheit. Felder bearbeitet. Fast vorzüglich. (Switzerland, city and canton of Zug, half ducat of 1692. Obverse: four line inscription with date and value in a laurel wreath; reverse: oval cantonal arms in a cartouche. Of high rarity, Fields tooled, About Extremely Fine.)"
This type was struck 1692 only. All the gold coins of this canton are rare to very rare and this is the first to be posted on this site.
