Sincona sale 102, lot 5595

This specimen was lot 5595 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 14,000 CHF (about US$21,101 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ. Zug. Stadt und Kanton. Groschen 1691, Zug. Von grosser Seltenheit. Fast vorzüglich. Exemplar der Auktion SINCONA 20, Zürich, Oktober 2014, Los 3839. Exemplar der Auktion UBS Gold & Numismatics 56, Basel, Januar 2003, Los 730. (Switzerland, city and canton of Zug, groschen of 1691, Zug mint. Of high rarity, About Extremely Fine.)"

This rare type was struck 1691 only. At this time, one thaler was thirty groschen. St. Oswald is depicted on the reverse.

Specification: 1.5 g, silver, 21 mm diameter, this specimen 1.51 g.
