Zug 1624 dicken
This specimen was lot 4514 in Sincona sale 73 (Zürich, November 2021), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"SWITZERLAND | Zug | Stadt und Kanton. Dicken 1624, Zug. Letzte Ziffer der Jahreszahl umgeschnittene 3 in eine 4. Sehr selten. Fast vorzüglich. Kleiner Schrötlingsfehler. (Switzerland, canton of Zug, dicken of 1624, Zug mint, 1624/3 overdate. Very rare, About extremely fine, Minor flan flaw.)"
A dicken was 24 kreuzer or about 4/15 of a thaler. This type, struck 1623-24, is rare. The prior type, KM 20, is common. The figure on the obverse is St Oswald, a British king who converted the Northumbrians.
