This specimen was lot 34098 in Heritage sale 3106 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $2,400. The catalog description[1] noted, "Netherlands: Zeeland. Provincial gold 2 Ducat 1655 MS62 PCGS. A most promising addition to our multiple Ducat selection in this very sale, and the first of the date we've handled thus far. Illumination reveals scintillating luster that carries admirably through the fields largely devoid of major visual detractor, soundly placing this outlier at the cusp of a Choice Mint State assignment. As the lon[e] occupant between both censuses for this date, we anticipate fervent bids from interested Dutch collectors." Zeeland, along with several other Dutch provinces, issued gold ducats from the sixteenth century until the termination of the United Provinces by Napoleon in the 1790's. This subtype is listed for 1645-62, 1668-73.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 6.98 g, 0.986 fine gold.

Catalog reference: KM 35, Fr-306, Delm-881, PW-Ze18.
