The Rasulids were a dynasty which tooks its name from Rasul, who was a Turkoman official of the Abbasids. However, the first ruler of the dynasty was Rasul’s grandson Umar I, whose rule followed the collapse of the Ayyubid dynasty (centered in Egypt and Syria).
The specimen shown is a silver 1 dirham from the ruler Al Ashraf Isma'il Mumahhid al-Din Isma'il, who ruled 1377-1400 AD. It is dated AH 785, or about 1383 AD, and minted in al-Mahjam. The reverse shows an image of a fish.
