The Rasulids were a dynasty which tooks its name from Rasul, who was a Turkoman official of the Abbasids. However, the first ruler of the dynasty was Rasul’s grandson Umar I, whose rule followed the collapse of the Ayyubid dynasty (centered in Egypt and Syria).

The specimen shown is a silver 1 dirham from the ruler Al-Afdal Dirgham ad-Din al-Abbas, who ruled 1363-1377 AD. It is dated AH 774, or about 1373 AD, and minted in Adan. The reverse shows an image of a fish.
