This specimen was lot 3615 in Künker sale 440 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €180 (about US$248 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"WÜRTTEMBERG, HERZOGTUM, SEIT 1806 KÖNIGREICH Wilhelm I., 1816-1864. Gulden 1854. Stempelschneider Carl Friedrich Voigt. Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. Erworben im Juli 1988 aus dem Lager der Münzhandlung Sonntag, Stuttgart. (kingdom of Württemberg, William I, 1816-64, gulden of 1854. Extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
King William began his reign as a liberal, granting Württemberg a constitution and reforming taxes, customs duties and agriculture, but grew reactionary after the revolutions of 1848. One gulden was sixty kreuzer. This type was struck 1838-54. It is a common type although this is likely to be a scarce date.
Recorded mintage: 90,000.
Specification: 10.60 g, 0.900 fine silver, 30 mm diameter, decorated edge, this specimen 10,60 g.
