Wurttemberg 1854 6 kreuzer
This specimen was lot 3620 in Künker sale 440 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €55 (about US$76 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"WÜRTTEMBERG, HERZOGTUM, SEIT 1806 KÖNIGREICH Wilhelm I., 1816-1864. 6 Kreuzer 1854. Mit WÜRTTB . auf der Vorderseite. Prachtexemplar. Feine Patina, fast Stempelglanz. Erworben im Juni 1988 aus dem Lager der Münzenetage H. Schulz, Stuttgart. (kingdom of Württemberg, William I, 1816-64, six kreuzer of 1854, with "WÜRTTB ." on the obverse. Choice example, fine patina, about uncirculated.)"
King William began his reign as a liberal, granting Württemberg a constitution and reforming taxes, customs duties and agriculture, but grew reactionary after the revolutions of 1848. One gulden was sixty kreuzer. This type was struck 1842-56.
