Waldeck-Pyrmont 1761 1/4 ducat Fr-3496
This specimen was lot 1244 in Sincona sale 38 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 425 CHF (about US$510 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Waldeck-Pyrmont, Fürstentum, Karl August Friedrich, 1728-1763 Vierteldukat 1761. Arolsen. Sehr schön. Gewellt und kl. Kratzer. (Germany, principality of Waldeck-Pyrmont, Charles Augustus Frederick, 1728-63, quarter ducat of 1761. Very fine, Wavy planchet and small scratches.)"
This scarce type is noted for 1741, 1760 and 1761. It is the most affordable gold issue of this insignificant principality. Waldeck and Pyrmont were united in 1625 when the count succeeded to both domains.
