SB222-75515r.jpg

This specimen was lot 75515 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "VIETNAM. 100 Dong, 1988. PCGS PROOF-67 Deep Cameo. Small 100 variety. An interesting modern issue that is the first of its type we can recall offering. Sharp cameo contrast gives the satiny devices a powerful impression in-hand. From the Hobart Collection." The SCWC lists this with large and small "100" varieties (KM 25.1 and 25.2), with the large "100" variety obtaining a slight premium. The mintage figure given below probably includes both varieties.

Recorded mintage: 3,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 15.99 g, 0.980 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM-25.2.
