Utrecht 1786 1/2 ducaton
This specimen was lot 255 in Schulman auction 389 (Amsterdam, December 2025), where it sold for €2,400 (about US$3,382 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"1/2 Dukaton of 1/2 zilveren rijder, UTRECHT Provincie 1581 - 1795, 1786 over 1785, Silver Type II. Ruiter naar rechts boven gekroond provinciewapentje en titel .BELG: PRO: TRAI. Kz. jaartal onder het wapen in cartouche. Kabelrand. Ex Cherry Tree Collection. PCGS MS62. (Netherlands, province of Utrecht, 1581-1795, half ducaton of 1786, type II, 1786/5 overdate. Obverse: mounted knight charges right over the crowned provincial arms; reverse: date under arms in cartouche, reeded edge. Graded PCGS MS62.)"
The SCWC notes this overdate but does not award it any premium. A few half ducatons were struck in gold in 1774 (KM 115.1a).
