This specimen was lot 34065 in Heritage sale 3106 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $3,600. The catalog description[1] noted, "Netherlands: Utrecht. Provincial 1-1/2 Ducaton (Silver Rider) 1776 AU53 NGC. A curious edition from the always coveted Piefort strikings of Dutch provincial issues, witnessed here at 1-1/2 Ducaton weight. While gently handled as evidenced by a general glossiness and friction to the rider, the piece displays a deep cabinet patina likely having developed after sitting for quite some time specialist's cabinet. An offering that doubtlessly will be met with strong bidder enthusiasm from Dutch collectors and those seeking 1776-dated issues. From the Coenen Collection." Single ducatons were struck in this style 1739-94. Double ducatons aren't listed in the SCWC but are well attested for many dates. This 1½ ducaton is not mentioned in the SCWC or Davenport and is doubtless very rare.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 49.17 g, 0.941 fine silver; this specimen 48.72 g.

Catalog reference: KM Unlisted, Dav-1832 var. (for standard weight), WP-Unl., Delm-Unl.
