Uri-Schwyz-Nidwalden 1561 thaler Dav-8766
This specimen was lot 5260 in Sincona sale 80 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 13,000 CHF (about US$15,581 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SWITZERLAND | Uri, Schwyz & Nidwalden, Taler 1561, Altdorf. Drei Standeswappen in Kleeblattstellung, in den Feldern Lilienstäbe. * VRANIE + SVIT + VNDERVALDE + 1561. Rv. Gekrönter Doppeladler mit Nimben. DOMINE ¬ SERVA ¬ NOS ¬ IN ¬ PACE ¬ 1561. Von grosser Seltenheit. Attraktives sehr schönes Exemplar. (cantons of Uri, Schwyz and Nidwalden, thaler of 1561, Altdorf mint. Obverse: three upright arms in a field of lilies; reverse: crowned and nimbate double-headed eagle. Of high rarity, Attractive very fine specimen.)"
This joint issue of the three cantons was struck 1561-65 with many muled dates altho this specimen is dated 1561 on both sides.
