Sincona sale 98, lot 4508

This specimen was lot 4508 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 325 CHF (about US$472 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Uri, Schwyz und Nidwalden, Groschen 1561, Altdorf. Sehr schön. Exemplar der Slg. Zuberbühler, Auktion SINCONA 16, Zürich, Oktober 2013, aus Los 6091. (Switzerland, cantons of Uri, Schwyz and Nidwalden, schilling of 1561, Altdorf mint. Very Fine.)"

Numista lists this type for 1552, 1561, 1563 and undated. Forty schilling made a thaler. The obverse legend, "VRANIE ✿ SVIT ✿ VNDERVALD ✿", expands to "Uraniensis Svitensis et Undervaldiensis", the three cantons responsible for the issue.
