Sincona sale 98, lot 4509

This specimen was lot 4509 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 14,000 CHF (about US$20,307 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Uri, Schwyz und Nidwalden, Taler 1563, Altdorf. Die drei Standeswappen in Kleeblattstellung, dazwischen jeweils Blätterstäbe. Das Schwyzerwappen leer. In der Umschrift das Münzzeichen von Hans Joachim Gutenson (Stern unter Halbmond). Rv. Gekrönter Doppeladler mit Nimben, die mindere Jahreszahl am Ende der Rückseitenumschrift. Sehr selten. Vorzüglich. Kratzer. (Switzerland, cantons of Uri, Schwyz and Nidwalden, thaler of 1563, Altdorf mint. Obverse: three coats of arms are arranged in a cloverleaf formation, each with a foliate stem. The Schwyzer coat of arms is plain. The inscription shows the mint mark of Hans Joachim Gutenson (star under a crescent moon). Reverse: A crowned nimbate double-headed eagle, the abbreviated date at the end of the legend. Very rare, Extremely Fine, Scratches.)"

This joint issue of the three cantons was struck 1561-65 with many muled dates.
