This specimen was lot 92441 in Stack's Bowers March 2020 sale, where it sold for $50. The lot description noted, "2007-P Jamestown 400th Anniversary Silver Dollar. Proof-70 Ultra Cameo (NGC)." This commemorative honors the 400th anniversary of the founding of Jamestown in Virginia. The first English settlers rewarded the Indians' hospitality by fighting with them, enslaving them and infecting them with deadly diseases.

The obverse design of the $1 silver coin, by former United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver Donna Weaver and sculpted by Don Everhart, depicts three faces of diversity, representing the cultures that lived and worked together to ensure the success of the colony at Jamestown. The $1 silver coin obverse inscriptions are: “Liberty,” “In God We Trust,” “Founding Jamestown,” and “1607-2007.”

Reverse

The reverse design of the $1 silver coin, by United States Mint AIP Master Designer Susan Gamble and sculpted by United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver Charles Vickers, shows the Susan Constant, the Godspeed and the Discovery, the three ships that carried the English settlers to the Virginia shoreline. The silver reverse displays the inscriptions, United States of America, E Pluribus Unum and One Dollar.

Recorded Mintage: 79,801 plus 258,802 proofs.
