United States 1847 10 dollars
This specimen was lot 1368 in Künker Auction 425 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €1,350 (about US$1,912 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"MÜNZEN UND MEDAILLEN AUS ÜBERSEE · VEREINIGTE STAATEN VON AMERIKA, Föderation. 10 Dollars 1847, Philadelphia. Liberty. 15,05 g Feingold. GOLD. Sehr schön. Aus der Familiensammlung Mohr. (United States, ten dollars of 1847, Philadelphia mint, Liberty head type. Very fine.)"
This specimen is one of a type struck without motto at the Philadelphia 1839-66. Issues are also recorded from New Orleans (1841-60) and San Francisco (1854-66). In 1866, the motto "In God We Trust" was added to the reverse. The 1847 eagle is the most common No Motto issue of the 1840's.
