The year 1847 saw the Charlotte mint's output increase dramatically to nearly 85,000 coins. This is the largest production output at Charlotte for any year or denomination. Accordingly, the 1847-C is one of the most available Charlotte Half Eagle product with over 325 or so known graded by PCGS and NGC. This date also marks the first year that Charlotte incorporated an even larger date logo than 1842-1846. This huge date size was used until 1859.
