This specimen was lot 31165 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $3,840. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ottoman Empire. Suleyman I (1520-1566) gold Sultani AH 947 (1540/1) AU55 ANACS, Zabid mint (in Yemen). A truly marvelous and choice offering of this very rare Yemeni emission that features the actual year of issue rather than the accession date formula so common on contemporary sultanis of other mints. Though an unfortunate typo in the spelling of the mint name appears on the holder, this is surely a piece deserving of a premium bid. Ex. Dr. Hans Wilski Collection."
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: gold, this specimen 3.52 g.
