This specimen was lot 1959 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "TURKEY: Mahmud II, 1808-1839, AR 2-1/2 piastres (100 para), Kostantiniye, AH1223 year 5, third monetary standard; stained, minimal weakness, VF, R, ex Kenneth A. Bovenkamp Collection." This type was struck years 3 thru 10. Debasement was continuous throughout the sultan's reign and coinage types were usually shortlived. Forty para equalled a kuruş.
