Steve Album sale 54, lot 1884

This specimen was lot 1884 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "TURKEY: Mahmud II, 1808-1839, AV rubiye, Kostantiniye, AH1223 year 5, excellent strike, Unc, ex Kenneth A. Bovenkamp Collection." This type was struck years 1 thru 5 and has a low catalog value. Most are holed, perhaps having been removed from the costumes of belly dancers.
