This specimen was lot 74767 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "TURKEY. 1-1/2 Kurush, AH 1223//26 (1823). Constantinople Mint. Mahmud II. NGC MS-66. Fully brilliant with flawless surfaces and a decent strike for the type." This type was struck years 26-32. Debasement was continuous throughout the sultan's reign and coinage types were usually shortlived. Sixty para equalled 1½ kurush.
