UBS sale 84, lot 2532

This specimen is lot 2532 in UBS sale 84 (Basel, January 2010). The catalog description^[1] noted,

"TÜRKEI. Republik, 1923-. 100 Piaster 1929. Gutes vorzüglich" (Republic of Turkey, 100 kurush of 1929, good extremely fine).

The type was struck in Istanbul 1926-29 during the reign of Kemal Ataturk, president of Turkey 1923-38. It is the last of a denomination introduced during the rule of Sultan Abdul Mejid (r. 1839-61) and among the last Turkish coins using arabic letters. Issues after 1935 all use the Roman alphabet.

Recorded mintage: unknown but not common.
