This specimen was lot 32409 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $3,840. The catalog description[1] noted, "Turkey: Republic gold 500 Kurush AH 1336 Year 23 (1929) MS63 NGC, Ankara mint. A very bold and prooflike example of this scarce type, from a mintage of just 4,011 pieces. Enticingly reflective fields slightly affected by contact marks, but nothing so severe as to prevent this piece from entering the choice Mint State level. An altogether highly attractive offering." No gold coins have been issued for circulation since.

Specification: 36.08 g, 0.917 fine gold, 1.063 troy oz AGW.
