Trier (1430-1436) goldgulden Fr-3444
This specimen was lot 3828 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €1,900 (about US$2,455 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ERZBISTUM Ulrich von Manderscheid, 1430-1436. Goldgulden o. J. Koblenz. GOLD. RR Kl. Kratzer, sehr schön. (Germany, archbishopric of Trier, Ulrich von Manderscheid, 1430-1436, undated gold gulden, Coblenz mint. Rare, scratches, very fine.)"
In the fifteenth century, the archbishops of Trier were prolific issuers of goldgulden from several mints tho the Coblenz mint is the only one recorded for Ulrich. Rhabanus, his successor, was the first archbishop to apply dates to his coins.
