Sincona sale 101, lot 3295

This specimen was lot 3295 in Sincona Auction 101 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 1,500 CHF (about US$2,261 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RDR / ÖSTERREICH Maria Theresia, 1740-1780. Dukat 1759, Karlsburg. Gutes vorzüglich. (Holy Roman Empire, Maria Theresia, 1740-80, ducat of 1759, Karlsburg mint. About Uncirculated.)"

This ducat was struck in Transylvania 1746-65, during the early part of the reign of Maria Theresia. After the death of her husband, Francis I, in 1765, a veiled bust (Fr-544) was used.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common for the series.

Specification: 3.49 g, 0.986 fine gold, .110 troy oz AGW, this specimen 3.47 g.
