This specimen was lot 2393 in Goldberg sale 93 (Los Angeles, September 2016), where it sold for $153. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mexico: Guerrero. 50 Centavos, 1915 NGC About Unc. Taxco. Revolutionary coinage. NGC graded About Uncirculated, Details (Surface Hairlines)." This coin was issued by the Zapatistas under conditions where they were unable to part the gold from the silver, so they simply minted the alloy they had. The coin was small enough to avoid melting, unlike other Guerrero issues. The Zapatistas also issued fifty centavos in copper.
Recorded mintage: unknown but not rare.
Specification: silver.
