Switzerland 1953-B franc

from the Stack's Bowers 2024 ANA sale, lot 47759

The first specimen was lot 47759 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND. Franc, 1953-B. Bern Mint. NGC MS-65." This type was struck 1878-1967 in silver and is still in production today in copper-nickel form. Few dates after 1936 are scarce and this one is fairly common.

Recorded mintage: 786,000 plus specimens; a slightly better date.

Specification: 5 g, 0.835 fine silver, 23.2 mm diameter.
