Steve Album sale 54, lot 2920

This specimen was lot 2920 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $115. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND: Confederation, 10 rappen, Bern, 1953-B, beautiful light tone with some nice contrast, a lovely example! PCGS graded Specimen 67. Tied for finest graded at PCGS." This type was first struck in 1879 and is still in production in that form. The "B" mintmark was dropped 1970-85. Numista comments, "Certified by Guinness World Records as the world's oldest coin in general circulation, with the first issues from the 19th century still in active circulation."

Recorded mintage: 6,149,000, a common date.

Specification: 3 g, copper-nickel, 19.15 mm diameter, plain edge.
