This specimen was lot 3098 in Sincona sale 87 (Zürich, October 2023), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEDEN, Friedrich I. 1720-1751. 4 Mark 1737, Stockholm. Mit der Signatur GZ (Georg Zedritz, Münzmeister in Stockholm, 1722-1723 und 1730-1738) Selten. NGC XF45. Feine Patina. (kingdom of Sweden, Frederick I, 1720-51, four marks of 1737, Stockholm mint, with mintmaster's initials GZ. Rare, Nicely toned.)"
These coins were struck 1720, 1732 and 1737-38 but always in small numbers, suggesting the country was starved of bullion. However, copper plate money was exported in large quantities.
Recorded mintage: 17,000.
Specification: silver.
