Sweden 1607 1/2 mark
This specimen was lot 11260 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €408 (about US$425). The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. 4 Öre, 1607. Stockholm Mint. Karl IX 1604-1611. NGC EF-45. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." In 1599, Karl ousted his Catholic nephew Sigismund and made himself lord protector of Sweden. In 1604, Karl claimed the throne for himself as Karl IX. This type was struck 1607-09 and is listed in Numista as a half mark. As that is what is stamped on the coin, that is how we will list it. One riksdaler was 48 öre or six mark.
