Sweden 1606 4 mark
This specimen was lot 42614 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $1,680. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. 4 Mark, 1606. Stockholm Mint. Carl IX. PCGS VF-35. A rather elusive example, this handsome specimen is nicely detailed, showing moderate wear only on the highest portions of the designs. As a less commonly seen Swedish Taler, this crown will certain capture its fair share of attention. Ex: Christiano Collection. Ex: Classical Numismatic Group 37 (3/1996) Lot # 2510." This type of 1604-06 is too small to qualify as a thaler and lacks a Davenport number. It likely traded for two-thirds of a thaler. It is expensive in nice condition.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 19.74 g, 0.821 fine fine silver.
