Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction, lot 11115
SB626-11115r.jpg

This specimen was lot 11115 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Copenhagen, June 2026), where it sold for €69 (about US$80). The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. Stralsund. 1/192 Taler (Witten), 1763-LDS. Stralsund Mint. Adolf Fredrik. NGC VF-35. Nice example of this one-year type. From the L.E. Bruun Collection." Sweden seized the port of Stralsund in Pomerania in 1628 and held it until 1809, when it was captured by French troops. Altho Stralsund was autonomous, it was not an imperial free city, and so the Swedish kings permitted it to issue only low value local coinage. The crowned arrow is the badge of the town. At the Congress of Vienna in 1815, the town was ceded to Prussia along with the remnant of Swedish Pomerania.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 0.9 g, billon, 12-13 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-203; SB-115; Delzanno-278; Bruun-13048.
