Steve Album Auction 52, lot 2589

This specimen was lot 2589 in Steve Album Auction 52 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $216. The catalog description[1] noted, "POMERANIA (SWEDISH): Adolphus Frederick, BI 1/48 thaler, 1763-IDL, a pleasant lustrous mint state example! PCGS graded MS61. Swedish Pomerania was a dominion under the Swedish Crown from 1630 to 1815 on what is now the Baltic coast of Germany and Poland. Following the Polish War and the Thirty Years' War, Sweden held extensive control over the lands on the southern Baltic coast, including Pomerania and parts of Livonia and Prussia." This one year type also comes with initials "LDS". It is fairly common, suggesting that it was struck for several years with a frozen date. Sweden ceded her last holdings in Pomerania to Prussia at the Congress of Vienna in 1815.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 1.36 g, billon, 17 mm diameter, plain edge.

Catalog reference: KM-416, SB-264a.
