This specimen was lot 3926 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $102. The catalog description[1] noted, "SRI LANKA: Democratic Socialist Republic, 1 rupee, 1999, Army's 50th Anniversary, mintage of 8,000 pieces in proof, Choice Proof, S." In 1972, Ceylon dropped its membership in the British Commonwealth and changed its name to Sri Lanka, which name is still in use. At present (September 2024), US$1 = 296 Sri Lankan rupees. In October 2014, US$1 = 130 rupees.
Recorded mintage: 8,000 proofs plus 127,000 prooflikes.
Specification: 7.13 g, nickel plated steel, 25.4 mm diameter.
