Stephen Album sale 50, lot 1620

This specimen was lot 1620 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "SRI LANKA: Democratic Socialist Republic, 1 rupee, 2001, Air Force's 50th Anniversary, proof-only issue, mintage of only 2,000 pieces, Choice Proof, S." This NCLT was struck at the Royal Mint in Llantrisant. Currently (October 2024), US$1 = 293 rupees, giving this coin a face value of 0.3¢.

Recorded mintage: 2,000 proofs.

Specification: 7.13 g, copper-nickel, 25.4 mm diameter.
