Spain 1827-S JB 2 reales
This specimen was lot 650 in Áureo y Calicó sale 345 (Barcelona, March 2020), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"1827. Fernando VII. Sevilla. JB. 2 reales. Rayita. Atractiva. Ex Áureo & Calicó 03/02/2016, nº 1801. Ex Colección Manuela Etcheverría. EBC-. (kingdom of Spain, Ferdinand VII, two reales of 1827, Seville mint. Scratch, attractive, about extremely fine.)"
This type was struck in Madrid 1814-33, in Seville (shown here) 1815 and 1820-33 and in Cadiz 1810-12 only. Lower in fineness than contemporary Latin American issues, they were discounted in international trade. Tho priced fairly cheaply in the SCWC, this type is very difficult to find at U. S. coin shows.
