Spain 1815-M GJ 8 reales
This specimen was lot 230 in Aureo & Calicó sale 238 (Barcelona, November 2011), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"1815. Madrid. GJ. 8 reales. Leves golpecitos. Parte de brillo original. Escasa. EBC-. (eight reales of 1815, Madrid mint. Minor rim bumps, mint luster, scarce, about extremely fine.)"
In 1814, the French army was expelled from Spain after a six year war led by the Duke of Wellington. Ferdinand VII resumed the issue of the traditional eight reales at Madrid 1814-18 and 1823-30. The earlier dates aren't too rare tho scarce compared to Mexico or Peru.
