Spain 1815-S CJ 8 reales

This Spanish eight reales was struck at the Seville mint in 1815. It is among the last traditional pesos struck in Spain. This type was struck at Seville 1809-20, Cadiz 1810-15 and Madrid 1814-18. There is an additional issue from Madrid 1823-30 but these are so rare as to be practically presentation pieces. The 20 reales de vellon introduced by José Napoleon was the favored denomination in the 1820's until 1849.
